Automobilist Ford & Shelby, the Epitome of Speed! 💨

The GT40 was born from a place of retribution. In 1963, Henry Ford II had sought to join forces with Ferrari, but to his surprise, the Italian automaker suddenly terminated all negotiations shortly before the contract signing. Furious with the situation, Ford sought to settle the score by beating the Italians on their grounds. To prove their superiority over the 5 years consecutive champion, Ford hired Carroll Shelby to build the vehicle known as Ford GT40. In a triumphant display of perseverance, the car went on to claim victory at Le Mans in 1966 and for the next three consecutive years, cementing its place in racing history as a symbol of “sweet revenge”.

At the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the blue #1 GT40 driven by Ken Miles and Denis Hulme was leading the pack. However, a team order to slow down was issued, allowing the other two GT40s to catch up for a photo finish with all three crossing the line together. Initially, Miles was declared the winner and was about to step up to the podium when officials corrected their statement and denounced him as the second. The black #2 GT, driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, had won the race, as it was starting from a further away position behind Ken. A bittersweet end to an incredible race.

A true symbol of automotive excellence. The Shelby Cobra AC produced between 1962 and 1967, is a rare gem in the world of collectable vehicles. With only 56 of the planned 100 vehicles built and a further 31 fitted for street use, the MK3 is one of the most sought-after models in the Cobra line. It's a testament to the genius of Carroll Shelby, the visionary of American motorsport, that not only brought Ford back to the racing spotlight but continued to push the boundaries for the decades to come.
