Sculptor Pekka Jylhä thinks that his home is at its best in the afternoon when the sun shines in at the right angle. He approaches home decoration the same way as artistic work.

Created by designer Tom Chung for Muuto, the adventurous Piton lamp surprises with its creative versatility. Design Stories got to chat with Chung, who shared the story behind Piton and his laidback guideline for decorating.

Once a place where maids and farmhands gathered for mealtime, the former servants’ hall of the Erkylä manor has been tastefully converted into an office space for Sinituote, a renowned Finnish manufacturer and marketer of home care products. Located in Hyvinkää, Southern Finland, the atmospheric office in an 1840s log house was designed by Joanna Laajisto.

“I do not want my home to have any secrets, nor do I want it or any of its parts to pretend to be something they are not. In my experience, the feeling of inauthenticity creates bad energy. It makes the space feel different, like the endless performance would create a certain kind of tension,” writes columnist Hanna-Katariina Mononen.
