Friends keep it real, right? Nordic happiness needs a healthy home planet. Our daily operations cause emissions, as does interior design as a whole – we need to step up to the plate. Our first carbon footprint calculation, conducted for 2021, informed us where our emissions originate. Now, we take action to both minimise our emissions and compensate for the ones we cannot weed out.

To offset our emissions, we will protect Finnish forests – only 6% of which are currently permanentely protected – within the framework of the METSO programme. While local in nature, forest conservation creates considerable global climate benefits and nurtures biodiversity. Naturally, forests are special to us Finns as well as Nordic design, both in terms of inspiration and pure raw materials.

As always, we need our community in our efforts to give back to nature and hang on to the four seasons. We are now asking Finnish forest owners to set forth forest areas for us to purchase and protect.

Our sustainability strategy, based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, includes a promise of carbon neutrality. According to CEO Teemu Kiiski, forest conservation is an effective way of both compensating for emissions and helping biodiversity to thrive.
