The 30 projects shortlisted for the six sustainability categories include a series of organically shaped modules to help reduce coastal erosion (above), a retail space featuring waste materials and biomaterials in London and a converted textile factory in Shanghai.

MASS Design Group, Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture, Halleroed, Sella Concept and Rio Kobayashi are among the 31 studios shortlisted across six Designer of the year categories.

The Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlist, which rewards a person whose contribution has had an overwhelmingly beneficial social and environmental impact, will be revealed on Monday.

Winners will be announced at a party in London on Tuesday 28 November. Tickets for the event will be sold online from next week.
