The changing of seasons means changing wardrobes for the change in weather but for some it’s also a change of playgrounds. A shift from sea to snow and bringing out toys for winter playgrounds. The concept of snowboarding originated in the United States in the 60’s as an experiment, to ‘Surf on Snow”.
Before the snow season kicks off, Takuya “TAPPY” Yoshikawa is busy in his workshop, working on new snowboard concepts, drawing curves on uncut wood snow planks. Draw-Cut out-Test ride-Redraw, will be the routine while another pre-season routine is building up the body strength and stamina for long deep-snow hikes to the peaks to test the new designs. When ultimate weather and snow conditions align on THE DAY, Tappy will be ready to take the 4 hour snow shoe hike up to the peak, off load the board, u-turn and glide all the way down an untouched mountain side of fresh piled powder on his new handmade edgeless board.
